Maybe Gates and Madonna, but not the Queen and McCartney.

Elizabeth II has reigned for more than a half a century, and those Commonwealth ties run pretty damn deep still - that's like 2 billion people right off the bat who have some idea of who she is.

McCartney is still the music icon for much of the world. Michael Jackson was on that level when he was alive, too. I was overseas when Jackson died in a third world shithole in which many people were not particularly fond of America, but there were people openly weeping when that guy died (and virtually no one in this country knew who Michael Jordan was). One of the weirdest sensations ever.

Jordan might make it up by the fact that he is so hugely popular in China and Southeast Asia. There might be an argument there.

I would say Trump will be more recognizable than Obama in a year
