Who is heck Domingo Ayala?

I've seen his name all around giving baseball clinics for teens, kids, and baseball organizations. He seems pretty popular. But I can't even see where's he's played baseball even in the minors. What's the deal and what's the attraction for kids and teens? I put it here because it seems more entertainment that sports. He's got a huge mustache .
