I was "spanked" to the point that my hips were contorted and I was unable to walk for 18 months when I was in first grade. Spankings never worked as a deterrent for me, they just served as motivation for me to cause my parents real problems.

I will never lay a hand on my kids in a non-positive loving way.

That isn't a spanking.

No shite. Abuse isn't effective.

Luckily, I don't have to get over it since I was right.

Still ignoring the study I mentioned and saying you didn't move the goalposts.

Was whipped, mouth washed out with soap (refuse to use Dial to this day), on my knees with nose in the corner.

We have three children, all grown (30s), and believe whipped them a total of three times

I love that you're hanging your hat on this without shame. I'm embarrassed for you.

I mean, an intro to Logic presumably would have covered this for you. But don't let me stand in the way of your masturbatory preening session.

No you weren't. I'll add it to the list.

Neither of you have bothered to give your understanding of them. We all know why.

I'm good right where I am on those points.

No, it's a class that Freshmen or Sophomores in college generally would take. We now know, however, that you didn't.

Read that study abstract. Still flawed.

They measured behavior of kids who had been spanked in the past week to kids that had not. They also didn't start until age 5. It's also based on behavior problems reported by parents, so getting a baseline is nearly impossible.

I'm not the one who made the incorrect statement.

That's not how this is going to go. I assume you're an adult learner since you have children, and that you have a college education with the chest-beating you're doing about it. For your type, giving you the answers will not be effective. You probably already have the information. We just need to get you to a point where you can apply it correctly.

That starts with you, not me.

Yep, and thanks for all but confirming that as the source of your flawed and incomplete understanding of the concepts.

Had welts on my legs a couple of times after my dad whipped me. It was kind of my own fault. He would hold me by my left arm, and swing the belt with his right arm. I'd try to run from him, and stick my right hand back there to try to catch the belt. He would end up hitting my legs instead of my butt, as he chased me around in a circle.

Once my parents started grounding me, instead of whipping me, I wished they'd whip me instead. The whipping was unpleasant, but didn't last long. Making me stay in the house for a week, or two, during the summer, was cruel, and unusual punishment. We only had one TV back then, and my mom watched soap operas. No TV to watch, no computer, or x box, or cell phone. My friends would come knock on our front door to get me to go play, and I'd have to tell them I couldn't go. My brothers would come in and tell me about playing Army in the woods, or paddling the boat out to the island, building a fire, and roasting weenies. We had glorious adventures all day long in our neighborhood.

Don't have kids so I've never whipped one.

I remember getting whippings from teachers at school in the 60's and 70's. Were they still doing that in the 80's and 90's?

Any comment is irrelevant. You overplayed your hand after starting out rationally in this thread. Can't win them all. But it won't stop you from repeating yourself a million times.
