So is it ok for the state to raise the taxes on alcohol , just because they raise taxes on something most people don't do doesn't mean it's right .....

These people will get away with stealing your money as long as you let them .,...

I think people are fine taxing cigs, because even most people who smoke wish they didn't.

Althoug, I don't always agree with the "trashy" aspect of cigs. Yes, it's mostly trashy people, but it seems to only make trashy people trashier, whereas when you see some well to do guy step out of his 100k car in a tuxedo, it doesn't seem as trashy. (I don't smoke BTW)

I admit I enjoy an occasional cigar, but I don't see the attraction of cigarettes.

They should make tobacco illegal , it's a public health issue , the government should be looking out for its people and get rid of smoking all together and find something else to tax the hell out of ....

Did the projections for revenue include a decrease in amount of sales due to people trying to quit due to tax and less product sold? Or is it based off of last years sales?

never looked back, but I refuse to tell anyone to quit or they should not smoke...

It really is amazing that people still smoke with the knowledge we have today. However, people still do drugs like meth so smoking cigarettes is not that crazy I guess

Makes sense. a lot of the budget goes to health care and cig smoking contributes to those costs.

But as usual the lobbying group LABI has brought zilch to the table. They received massive amounts in corporate welfare from Jindal, and it's barely been touched. LABI would rather cut health care and education expenses than touch their welfare.

Gave up smoking when I got a sick arse rig for Christmas. Vape steady pouring out of my Toyota Celica. Wouldn't go back.
