Just quit 2 weeks ago and going strong. Occasional urge, but Trident layers has been good to me. Also, I'm saving money, I don't stink and I'm not self-conscious about my dirty habit anymore.

Unfathomable that in year 2016 people still smoke cigarettes.

I know right! And drink alcohol, and coffee, and fatty foods, and salty foods, and don't excersize.

My mother smoked ever since she was 16, had never been able to kick it. She was in the hospital last year and the Dr told her "no more." That's all it took. She hasn't had one since.

OT Docs, bring it up to your patients who smoke. That may be all it takes to give them the motivation.

I would be ok with raising the alcohol tax. I am biased though since I don't drink

Smoking sucks. I have smoked for over40 years. Have quit for months at a time on a few occasions. But somehow got back to them. I have cut down big time and went from a pack and a half a day to about 10-12. It's fricking hard to do. Especially being stuck at home in recovery. I am hoping getting back to work will help. I know I am full of excuses. Just gotta wake up one day and just not have one. I have quit drinking over s year ago and that was tough with as much as I drank. So I know it can be done.
