I feel your pain. I lost my roommate/dog golden retriever just a few days before Christmas many years ago. Was home at my parents for the holidays and, after being let out for the morning he apparently roamed all the way to the highway. We had no idea he would go that far. I was angry about it for a long time. Oddly, was one of the worst losses I had experienced at the time. He was the best buddy.

My GSD died in 2010. I haven't gotten another one, probably never will. Dogs have personality and really can bond with the owner, and Sarah was one of a kind. It's painful, I feel sorry for people who can't understand it because they'll never have a special bond with an amazing creature like that.

Had to put down our German Shepherd named King almost 3 years ago due to acute pancreatitis and organ failure. Me, my wife and both our sons dug his grave, my sons put in his favorite toy and his bowl full of food and we all took turns covering him up. One of the saddest moments I've ever had. Long live the King.

I'm so very sorry for your loss. My Harley was a Golden Retriever who died of cancer 2.5 years ago and I still cry. We've lost several dogs over the years and it is heartbreaking. I feel for you.

Sorry for your loss. My brother is having to bring his dog he's had for 15 years to the vet today to see if she needs to be put down. She's a good dog. It sucks.

sorry for your loss, put my 13 year old boxer down last June. June 8th to be exact, never will forget him. But it gets better! I think having other dogs at home back it a little better.

I would get another dog within a few months. We got a boxer within 3 months, which I thought it would take my wife a lot longer, but it does make it a little easier

Found this little girl at a gas station in Whitney,TX. Something had mangled her ear. Brought her to vet and got her shots and eat cleaned. They had to cut half of it off. Few days go by and we finish drilling the well time to go home. Load up the truck and take her for one last walk to pee before we leave. She bolts under the trailer and gets bit by a rattlesnake. Immediately started seizing and shitting herself. Rush to vet in Waco again and they put her on IV for a few days. Told me it was unlikely she would live. I forked over the $500 anyway hoping for the best. Two days later they called and said she was doing great. Running around the office. Got in truck and aimed back for Waco. Didn't even make it to Baton Rouge when they called and said she suddenly passed. Only had her a week but she was a sweetie.

I got a catahoula lab mix when I was 17, his name was Buck. I trained him to track deer blood and spend all my free time with him to get him trained right and be obedient. I had him out in the yard one day and one of my other labs was in heat, it sent him into a frenzy looking for her (had them separated so we wouldnt have anymore puppies) he ran across the street to look for her but on his way back to our yard ole Buck Futter got hit by a truck pulling a trailer right infront of me, Guy never tapped the breaks or stopped to check on Buck. I watched my best dog Ive ever had get tossed around under the trailer, I ran out and got him out from the street and tried to comfort him. He looked up at me one last time, blood pouring out his mouth and nose flicked his tail and went limp and died in my arms. Took a long time to get over that, but I eventually did.
