someone WILL inherit it. There is a way to get out of that, but it’s something you’re probably going to have to deal with.

timeshares are a scam and there is absolutely zero advantage to purchasing one, I will however, listen to their spiel if the goodies are nice, went to Cabo last fall and sat in on one, free awesome breakfast buffet, open bar, took about two hours, resulted in about $600-700 worth of excursions, snorkeling, four wheeling on the beach, booze cruise, etc.
This. My dad was in real estate when I was growing up so I learned at a young age what a scam they are, but he didn’t mind dragging us off to some presentation for the freebies.

It differs by state, but in general you about a certain amount of time (less than a year) to file something in the probate court saying you are rejecting the inheritance of that asset (no one can be forced to inherit something). However, there are still things that could mess you up. The biggest one is that you cannot reject any inheritance that you have benefited from after receiving it. Once they die, do not under any circumstances use the timeshare. Don’t take one last trip in their memory, don’t let your buddy’s family use it. If you do that you’re probably on the hook for it.
Overall it does not seem very difficult, but it’s a pain in the arse, and speaks to how absolutely terrible the decision to buy one is. IMO anyone who signs those papers is either drunk or a dumbass. No exceptions.

I was approached on the street in a resort town one time and basically had to stop being nice about not being interested and basically insult the guy to get him off my back.
People get one polite brush off. When they hit me with the "well let me ask you this" I will go full jerk and not feel bad. They decided to waste my time and be rude trying to hard sell, so they can frick right off.

Good to know, as my Mom bought into the Club Wyndham in Branson. Her thought was "well, you kids can go on trips together after I pass". After the monthly fees and the points needed to use it in other places, I could do my own vacation for less.

No troll. I really did it. Was at the Hilton.
