Technically fog lights have a project a lower and wider beam than what is installed from the factory on vehicles. Some manufactures incorrectly call them fog lights, so you're part right in that they are called that. But only because manufacturers incorrectly call them something they aren't. They are actually driving lights.

Never heard the term driving light before this thread

Driving lights is nothing new. The first cars that came from the factory with them were European cars from what I remember. We added them to our vehicles but put driving lights on top of the bumper. We later learned we was screwing up.

I'm in my 50's and my night vision isn't what it used to be, so I tend to use my fog lights at night to illuminate up the edges of the road...it's a easier way to add more lighted area, without blinding other drivers.

You will probably never get stopped, but is illegal to drive with more than the headlights unless it's adverse conditions.

They are not Amber and the manual specifically calls them fog lights

You are correct. The lens should have a diffuser pattern. That results in less of the reflected light off of the fog as does the softer amber light color.

It's wrong. There worse mistakes in your manual than that ... and I don't even know what kind of truck you have.

Go to the officla parts website of Ford and do a search for "driving lights" and see what comes up (HINT: nothing comes up). Now search for "fog lights" and you'll see a long list of what Ford Motor Company calls "fog lamps".

But yes, you're right. I, along with Ford Motor Company, General Motors, and Honda Motors are all ignorant.

Yall are, and I fricking explained it to you. Feel free to keep being a moron though. you're really showing us. I cannot believe I ever defended your dumbass.

ETA: I guess I should assume since Ford calls the engine in my car a coyote that my car is powered by an actual animal.
