Certainly not in its current state, its a shame that early progressives fighting for their rights get lumped in with the current lot.

Seriously, stop. Please don't talk about politics or economics in real life and make our side look any dumber than we already do, a lot. Let the grown-ups discuss grownup shite, people like you do a disservice to our side. If you want to feel like you're talking about real shite, go discuss chemtrails or something.

So it is ok for white males to have denied literally everyone but white males the right to vote at some point in this nation, bit the idea of doing the same to them is ludicrous?

Go ahead and give it a shot.

See how it works out for you.

honestly his pledge letter is pretty thought provoking and inspiring. I can't link the actual letter but you can click on his name at this link to see it

You realize they did this in France years ago and the economy almost collapsed because all the wealthy people said "frick this, we're going to Belgium", and investments in French business dried up basically overnight. Even their liberal finance minister said the "supertax" turned France into "Cuba without the sun". When courts in one of the most liberal western countries in the world strikes down a 75% income tax as unconstitutional, you know it's a really, really bad idea.

It amazes me that people can think like that.

I mean, look around at everything... look at the skyscrapers. Look at the street lights. The roads. The cars you drive. The food you eat.

You know who is responsible for all of that shite? Men. Yes, men. Men are the ones farming and providing everyone with food. Men are the ones in trucks shipping it to stores... trucks that were built and designed by men, to stores that were built by men and designed by men.

And in America, white men are responsible for a lot of it, along with Hispanic men, Black men, Asian men, etc.

And this bitch has the gall to act like white men make this country bad? Bitch, men are what made this country the wealthiest country on Earth, you ungrateful count.

The "authority" we are questioning is white male authority. And, again, I'm not against white males.

Well you shouldn't be "against white males" considering if not for us civilization would still consist of mud huts held together by sticks, shitting in the woods behind that hut, and tonight's dinner depends on whether or not your husband did a good job throwing his spear, or if you're lucky, how well he shot his bow and arrow that day.

Democracy- two wolves and one lamb. The lamb gets eaten.

Liberty- Two wolves and one lamb with a gun. For some reason, the lamb does not get eaten.

"The debt that white men owe the world"

Reminds me of that scene from Life of Brian.

quote:

REG: Yeah. All right, Stan. Don't labour the point. And what have they ever given us in return?!

XERXES: The aqueduct?

REG: What?

XERXES: The aqueduct.

REG: Oh. Yeah, yeah. They did give us that. Uh, that's true. Yeah.

COMMANDO #3: And the sanitation.

LORETTA: Oh, yeah, the sanitation, Reg. Remember what the city used to be like?

REG: Yeah. All right. I'll grant you the aqueduct and the sanitation are two things that the Romans have done.

MATTHIAS: And the roads.

REG: Well, yeah. Obviously the roads. I mean, the roads go without saying, don't they? But apart from the sanitation, the aqueduct, and the roads--

COMMANDO: Irrigation.

XERXES: Medicine.

COMMANDOS: Huh? Heh? Huh...

COMMANDO #2: Education.

COMMANDOS: Ohh...

REG: Yeah, yeah. All right. Fair enough.

COMMANDO #1: And the wine.

COMMANDOS: Oh, yes. Yeah...

FRANCIS: Yeah. Yeah, that's something we'd really miss, Reg, if the Romans left. Huh.

COMMANDO: Public baths.

LORETTA: And it's safe to walk in the streets at night now, Reg.

FRANCIS: Yeah, they certainly know how to keep order. Let's face it. They're the only ones who could in a place like this.

COMMANDOS: Hehh, heh. Heh heh heh heh heh heh heh.

REG: All right, but apart from the sanitation, the medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, a fresh water system, and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us?

XERXES: Brought peace.

It's always the ones that have no concept of hard work or that feeling of accomplishment when you actually earn something that are the first to throw out the fair share tax the rich tag line.

One of the greatest bull shite arguments that's ever been sold. You could argue that a super high capital gains tax might hinder investment (it wouldn't?but you could argue that), but even so it wouldn't justify the miniscule current 15%.

And to say that it would hurt lower class investors is horse shite as well, we could just as easily have a progressive tax rate on annual capital gains as we do on income tax.

The idea that money earned is taxed higher than money gained is mind boggling to me. But people seem to love the idea of making money without work so they defend it tooth and nail.

bullshite

You do realize that equity has a much, much higher risk, right?

There's a good reason why a good chunk of economists support low capital gains taxes.

The money used to make gains was already taxed at the rate of money earned.

Nobody is prevented from capital gains. If it's so easy, and so unfairly taxed, why doesn't everyone do it?
