Just remember, these are the kinds of people the left points to every election season when they point out that their candidates win more "educated" voters. Masters of philosophy who is deemed credible and sane enough to write columns for the Huffington Post right here folks. Sooooo educated and smart.

50k effective tax rate should be right around 15% with proper deductions...

Sounds like Fox News to me - yea, they pay a large amount but a much smaller percentage of their income.
A white male with a $10,000,000 income pays $1,000,000, yes, that is more than the black working man who pays $20,000 in taxes on his $50,000 income.
But look at the percentages.
These are the facts.
You are comparing two completely different things - income tax and capital gains tax.

This is the modern Democratic Party. This isn't liberalism. This is totalitarianism.

These people are slowly digging their own graves.
Any societal shift is followed by an equal, if not greater, shift in the other direction.
We are 10-15 years away from white people standing up and saying "ENOUGH"
Five years ago, I would have called them racists. 10 years from now, I will likely stand with them.

It is not the amount, it is the percentage. And it is a proven fact that the uber wealthy pay a much smaller percentage of their income AND it is an equally proven fact that nothing "trickles down."
Again, can you buy the same amount of things with 20k in your pocket opposed to 1 mil?

You do understand that "equality and dignity of each human being" is the primary focus of progressives.
if that's true, why do so many promote redistribution policies that steal property from others?

Rachel Maddow already did that for me. Trump paid close to 25%. Your move

I have to go out riding so I'll end the argument with this:
You are correct, in a way, but here's the unpopular truth - we need a wealth tax. No one should have a net worth of ONE BILLION (or for that matter 1/2 BILLION).
Some wrestling guy has ONE BILLION. We should tax that wealth to create jobs. He's not - he's hording his wealth as most of the uber wealthy do, or trying to find a way to cheat working people out of their jobs.

Look, the tax codes are complex and unfairly favorable to the rich. I don't expect you to fully understand or have a reasonable argument against it. Luckily for people like you, there are educated white, male liberals like me who can actually make arguments for your side. So it's probably best if you stay out of it and just offer moral support, your race baiting doesn't help (although we appreciate your passion). Thanks in advance.

Yes. Exactly like National Socialism and Communism. People like that are a dangerous bunch.

and?
and what about the 45% who pay nothing? they also receive the lion's share of benefits. how are they paying their "fair share" when they receive exponentially more than they contribute?

Vince Kennedy McMahon was one failed event away from being on the damn street.
GTFO here with that non-sense.
His company helps reach millions of people GLOBALLY.

In fairness, those graphs are pretty misleading. They show earned income tax rates. When you consider that most wealthy people don't work for their money and pay lower tax rates on capital gains, it is a valid argument that the wealthiest contribute the least in taxes, respectively.
if you frick with capital gains, the middle class will be destroyed b/c that's their primary vehicle of investment. the entire point of a lower capital gains rate is to encourage investment. remove that incentive and investments become much less valuable, which is not an optimal solution for that non-rich
