Which truck/deal to purchase?

Been contemplating this for a solid week and still can not make up my mind. Any suggestions or opinions would help.
1) 2015 Tundra SR5 4x4 for $3k below rough trade value (friend of a friend trying to get out of note, got work truck so he is just paying for it to sit in driveway)
2) 2014 Tundra Platinum 4x4 for average trade value (dealership, not mine, we have none at the moment).
Here is the kicker. If I sell my truck outright for cash(I still pay on it), I will only get close to payoff. But if I trade on Tundra (2), they have offered $2k more than cash price. Plus I will get tax credit on (2) since will be trade/tax credit, not cash deal.
It a great deal on Tundra (1), but I am pretty much missing out on around $4k in trade value & tax credit. What would you do in my situation? Tundra (1) or (2) and why?

here's something to ponder:
if you buy a truck for 40k bucks, and you trade in a truck and they give you 20k on trade........you only pay taxes on 20k bucks.
if you sell it outright and buy the new one for 40k bucks........you pay taxes on 40k bucks.
think about it.

How come you can't get cash sale for your truck higher than the trade value?
That sounds very odd
Eta: I would do the 2015 personally, but I do think both deals are damn near equal

I would probably go option 2 in your case. But I absolutely hate the leather in the Platinum. Way too urban for my taste.

What does the platinum have that the SR5 doesn't? Mileage of both?

Platinum is top of the line, SR5 is almost a base model.

Platinum: 22k miles, leather, sunroof, heated & ventilated seats, other minor stuff
SR5: 11k miles, just navigation
Both crewmax, 5.7

slightly used F250 sold on craigslist from an oilfield baw would be the best choice IMO
truck nuts may not be included

Wow, you still owe on your present truck. Here's an idea... keep the damn truck you have until you pay it off.

Ventilated seats are gold in Louisiana.
Year newer is nice, but its the same gen, so not as big a deal.
