Thanks to all who served.
This.
I didn't serve, but both my son's are at USAF Academy. They'll graduate 2017 and 2018. Both want to be pilots (one wants to fly drones).

US Army Active - 1993-1997

Ft Benning, GA (2nd time)
Job - 98G Signal Intelligence Interceptor (Korean)
11M Mechanized Infantry
Stationed - Monterrey, CA Defense Language Institute (1 year)
Ft. Lewis, WA (3 years)
I also served 4 years in the Louisiana National Guard after my active time was up.
We did a couple of 30 day exercises in Korea and Thailand while I was at Ft. Lewis but I was never deployed anywhere. I also did 2 NTC rotations.
I got in right after Somalia and I got out of the National guard before the 2nd gulf war.

Almost positive he was a contractor.
As for myself, Army, started infantry. Earned airborne, ranger, air assault, CIB. Did two tours in afghan and one brief one in Iraq. Hung up my infantry boots.
