My only complaint about AMEX are the Centurion lounges at airports. Most are too crowded.
At least AMEX is addressing the problem and expanding some of them.
They've tried to address this by expanding them, but also by limiting the way people are allowed to get in. You have to pay more now to bring extra people if they don't also hold a card. I'm not sure if they've always charged, but I know they are charging more now.
My wife got one too so it doesn't matter. But it's a good way to keep people out that are just tagging along.

I like the metal but it's starting to annoy me a little
It falls out of my wallet/restaurant check holders, etc. The positive is that you usually hear it when it does

I'm not sure what Plat MC is but for AMEX it's $550/year and $175 for additional cards. They don't tell you what min credit score is but I think it's maybe 800 unless you're already an Amex member with a good history. Also have to meet minimum income requirements.
You get quite a bit but you have to know how to use the card - from $200 worth of Uber credits each year to gold status at Starwood hotels, Marriott and Hilton, gold status at major car rental agencies, free nights at certain luxury hotels, travel insurance and other perks. Brooks Brothers gift cards, Nordstrom gift cards. They cover $150 worth of airline "fees" (basically anything you pay for from the airline that isn't a ticket). You also get free enrollment for TSA Global Entry (which is ~ $100). And you get early offers to tickets for different events like concerts or shows. Concierge is great as well. Used the concierge quite a bit when we were in Iceland because I didn't know where anything was and didn't feel like tracking down numbers and making calls.

Exactly. The perks far outweigh the annual fee if used properly.

When did they add Marriott? I have the Hilton gold, but I didn't know they also did Marriott.
It's $200 on the airline fee too.
I just transferred 161k points to skymiles from Amex for an upcoming vacation.
Oh, and my Amex plat is plastic. WTF?

I think they added Marriott last January (I'm a gold member and I never stay with them). I know you can transfer points from Starwood to Mariott now as well.
As far as the metal card, get on your account and go to Order a Replacement Card. They'll send you a metal one. I think the metal one came out last summer - I honestly can't remember.

Platinum Amex. Perks. Hell, considering how much I drink the Centurion Club during long airport layovers the damn thing pays for itself right there.

Gold AMEX (no spending limit).....I wouldn't get the return on the $500 annual upgrade to platinum as I don't travel enough.

When I had a business I used it for travel or if I needed to pick up something quick.
A lot of times I needed to buy something for the service dept, and the accounting dept takes awhile to cut a check along with getting another partner to sign the check.
Now I am retired I really went back to the green Amex.
