Which of the two TVs to buy.
This is the choice. I know there are better choices and the OT will let me know. But I am looking to stay in a certain price range for what this TV will be used for. I currently have a 60" Vizio and I like it. So I was thinking about going with another Vizio but in 55". Then I see the 55" LG on sale and wonder if it is worth it. both are 55 inch 1080p 120Hz LED. I do not need a smart TV but most seem to come this way.
55" Vizio E550i-B2 $629
OR
55" LG 55LB5900 $499

Go with LG unless you really want the Vizio

Seems like an easy choice.

I've never owned s vizio but I have an LG that is great with no issues as my main tv.
Tv technogy is pretty darn good so I doubt you have issues with either one. Try to look in person and pick the one you think had a better picture.

I really enjoy my LG. Not as much as my Samsung, but it's still a fine TV.

Go with the one that has more HDMI ports.

Vizio
Best customer service. I have a 55"iB2 and had a little blooming issue. Called Vizio and they are DELIVERING a new TV to my house, no questions asked. Pretty tough to beat. Can't speak to the LG service though. Never owned one...

I know what to expect out of Vizio. I really like mine. I'm not a TV nerd that watches movies over and over and I never play video games. I guess this is why I dont know much about TVs. The LG however is 60hz for 499 and the one for 599 is 120hz.
so 599 vs 629 I may go Vizio. 30 bucks more comes as a smart TV. Same price difference if I buy Ruku for the LG.

High end electronics are a waste of money without real surge protection.
A must have to protect your expensive electronics

I have 3 Visios, no problem, cheap, good (enough) picture. I have 1 LG which I've had to have a technician come out and fix twice in the last 5 years for two separate problems.
I don't buy LG anymore.

I've got a question as well....
What's my best option at $150? Getting it for someone else. What's the biggest I can go?

I have a vizio and a samsung. Both are great. Vizio is a "SmartTV" which is nice.

If you prefer better picture quality to a Smart TV platform, then the LG 55LB5900 is the better choice for you. If you prefer Smart features to picture quality then Vizio E550i-B2 is your choice.

We have a 47" LG Smart TV in the bedroom.. It has an awesome pic... Especially watching live sports..
Is that Vizio a 60 or 55...?
Parents have the 60", great pic as well...
