I have read a lot of posts that complain about games played at Legion Field in west Birmingham. I grew up going to games there and parking in people’s back yards. Never had any issues.

That's why I would be on the Westside. You do business there doing the day. Even then, you do not go unarmed. That is pure stupidity.
I used to collect for a company on the Southside when I was young. Two of us would be over there pounding on doors in the Spencer McCallie Homes. That is Crip territory. Big mean dude named Jack that had local hood backup. I wouldn't have done that job for love nor money without Jack and the locals he had for protection.

ZERO difference other than Legion Field is a few blocks away from the interstate as opposed to being right by an exit...

The main danger in a gang infested area is crossfire. In a housing project when a gunshot goes off. Even the little kids like 3 or 4 years old know to hit the ground. It's unreal to see that.

That could be rough area surrounding the stadium.
The law is usually pretty hard around stadiums. They are revenue generators. You don't frick with the city's money.
Get a mile away and their concern for your welfare drops.
