I think supportive is the right word. The husband/father is the leader of the household because he has the most responsibility as protector and provider of the family. Women are taught to follow the man’s lead while still able to voice their opinions. It’s not like in the western world where it’s like a competion or debate when there’s disagreement between man and woman. You never see a traditional woman insulting her man in public in Asia.
The traditional setup is to encourage a strong family unit.
