I was driving between Metairie and LaPlace, listening to Walton and Johnson - the first plane had struck before I got into the car, then the report of the second plane hitting happened while I was driving. I got to the office and we watched both towers fall on television.

I was a sophomore in high school. We had club day or some weird schedule that day. I was in Mrs. Marleen's home ec room just waiting on normal classes to start. She came into the room crying, which wasn't out of the ordinary as she was a very emotional but great woman. She told us what happened and turned the tv on in time to see the second plane hit. We pretty much watched the news all day except for one class where Mrs. Mary was dead set on teaching us something. Pretty sure football practice was canceled that day as well. It was a terrible day and one that I will never forget

Just moved into a new house and didn't have cable yet. My mom called and told me about the first plane. I went to the gym and spent about four hours on the treadmill watching the news.

Visiting with some elementary school students at the time. When my good friend Andrew whispered to me that we were under attack, I kept my game face on. Couldn't let anyone know that I already knew.

8th grade, on my way to technology class. Heard a teacher mention something about a plane crashing into the World Trade Center, didn't really think nothing of it as I thought it was a small, private plane that hit it by accident. When we got to class, our teacher had this look of horror on his face and that's when I knew shite was real. We saw the 2nd plane hit, and eventually saw the towers crash. Felt so surreal, like something you would see out of a movie. Couldn't believe what was unfolding in front of us. Rest of the day consisted of watching the news and discussing how we felt about it all.

We were at the airport in San Diego waiting to board the flight when the first plane hit. They announced a delay until they got further news. I went to a lounge and watched the whole thing unfold with about 30 uniformed military.
Shortly after the 2nd tower fell National Guard ran everybody out of the terminal. We were stuck in SD for another week.

Sitting at work at LRAFB. I was a young airman and it was probably the first time I'd ever heard the name Osama Bin Laden.

work, one of my clerks came in to tell me a small plane musta crashed into the building
We were in gym when they said a plane hit. I remember thinking it was a crop duster because that idiot in Texas had just crashed his plane while dropping leaflets.
I remember sitting in honors english watching people leap to their deaths. Which, being shallow kids, lead to us asking why they weren't doing flips on the way down.
The severity of the situation hadn't dawned on us yet.
I remember when George W. Bush didn't step out of the classroom and thinking "that's a great man to not scare those kids."

6th grade classroom..Lady came in freaking out and told us to turn on the tv. Some kids started crying as they showed the towers in smoke. One girl had a father who was in NYC at the time and was really having a hard time. It was pretty scary.

5th grade. Our school didn't tell anyone all day. We had no clue until our parents picked us up either crying or generally freaking out. I've never forgiven that school for that

We are getting ready to drive to Mobile airport to take flight to Charlotte NC when I caught the first tower being hit on TV. The luggage was by the door. I think Our light was about noon. We obviously never boarded the plane.
