Where to take an old mattress?

Take it to Peej's trailer and burn it in his yard.

Under some interstate bridge overpass.

Homeless would appreciate it for sure.

You'll have to google a company and pay them that comes and gets them and recycles or take them to the landfill yourself. Goodwill or women's shelters only take them after you show proof you've had a professional service clean them.

Unless you're buying a new old, they may take your old one.

this has always been a quandary to me...I usually just buy from some place that will deliver the new one and haul off the old one.

Many moons ago, I worked briefly at a furniture store. They had run a campaign of "bring your old mattress in a trade in for a new one" type ad. Ran the special all summer.
The owner had me and another to round up all of the old mattresses that they had tossed in an alley behind the store.
Even though that alley was covered and the mattresses stayed dry, those were some of the nastiest mixes of springs, padding, and cotton I have seen. Many looked like someone had either a. shite on it b. peed on it c. had a menstrual cycle on it d. murdered someone on it

After loading all that nastiness up, we had to go to the landfill to unload them. Smell went from bad to worse.
