i drove from Alexandria to Napa once. Took I-40 after Wichita Falls. Best stops were Winslow, AZ at La Posada, restaurant and hotel; El Tovar Hotel on the south rim of the Grand Canyon. Macy's for coffee in Flagstaff.

Stopping in Lake Havasu to see the London Bridge might be something you want to see. The bridge was actually built and used in London until it was bought and transported to Arizona in the late '60s. London Bridge

El Paso sucks. But you're gonna have to stop on the 2nd day, and there's really no better place to do it.

Well, finally got the truck packed and ready to go. Leaving tomorrow and getting back Friday

Flagstaff (where the sights will be seen)

El Paso to Orange Beach
Last day is gonna suck, but I might stop in the woodlands to see a concert instead of driving to the beach that night.
In Flagstaff, I am staying at this skiing place and plan on riding the ski lift up some mountain since I get a free pass. Then, I'll drive through the Grand Canyon, to the Hoover Dam, to Vegas, and into California.

Do yourself a favor and stop at Jerry's Cafe in Gallup NM. And tell them to keep the frybread coming.
