Manhunt underway after prisoner accidentally released

PLAQUEMINE - State corrections officials said a manhunt is going on now for a convicted killer after he was accidentally released from prison due to a computer glitch.

Pam Laborde with the Department of Corrections said 32-year-old Benjuiel Johnson is being sought after the accidental release. Laborde said he pleaded guilty to manslaughter and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon charges for the 2010 killing of Cordies Gales in Iberville Parish, and was serving a 35-year sentence.

Neighbor just told me it started on North Sherwood guy was shooting at cars out his window. She was on the floor as he was shooting right by her car. Took cops on interstate to O'Neil back to Coursey and ran into multiple cars before being surrounded on Sherwood at Coursey. Mull pile vehicles were shoot at and multiple vehicles were run into by him
