Haha, Mingo, great advice. Got it, but you left milk and bread off the list, it seems.

Thanks Saintfan,, maybe I should just relax like you and be satisfied with things, but ...

Dbeaux, thanks so much for your encouragement. Profound. Missed my point though.

Where is my America?!?
Long gone. What’s left are their descendants, and they’re masked up, hiding in their homes, afraid to go to the grocery store and to speak their minds, living in fear, disgust, and apathy pumped into their heads by their political and media overlords.
These descendants voted for nonsensical emotional and social crap that doesn’t affect their personal lives except that they allow themselves to obsess over every little nuance they have introduced to them by their overlords, and ignored the infrastructure and community they were in, held nobody accountable, and watched it deteriorate. The same politicians and complicit media that wag their fingers at everyone to conform and live in fear of a virus, are the exact same that sold this country down the river to line their own damn pockets with in foreign interests.
Few people care about America, our own products, jobs, or infrastructure anymore.
Hell, I live in a city that’s waste deep in it’s own litter and garbage, shite literally falling apart everywhere you look, setting records for violent crime, especially murder, and just re-elected a mayor who’s done jack shite, and rewarded her for it simply because they identify with her genetic makeup, sex organs, or maybe the way she combs her hair, hell if I can figure it out.. That’s what world I live in.

Strong men lived to an average life expectancy of around 30 back in the “strong man days”
In no time in civilized history has it been "average" for a person to grow to healthy adulthood and die at an age of 30. Average life expectancy is a red herring for this discussion.

Fatal common cold is an oxymoron.

Let’s keep the modern man conveniences and progress, but interject some common sense.
I don't think we should give up modern conveniences, but common sense should be not becoming overly reliant on those conveniences that are not within your power to provide.
It seems self-evidently true that we have gotten soft in comparison to people who dealt with harsher conditions and had to provide their own necessities.
This cold snap has served as all the proof anyone should need to become a prepper, no matter how much they looked down on it before. If somebody doesn't do it now, after the best evidence for it that we've seen, then that's their fault.

True, but now you’re running for sport, health, and fun. People used to run for their lives. Literally.
Running cause you want better heart health is one thing. Running cause a bear is trying to eat you or a Comanche is trying to scalp you is on a whole different level.
Just bring back shop and home ec classes in high school and half the problems encountered with this freeze would go away.

Mainly due to infant and child mortality rates. People still grew old if you survived to adulthood. Their genes were strong and survival genes were passed down through generations.
Until now. The slow reversal starts. People are soft and any simple crisis in life will wipe most out.

You're such an insufferable person. Get on some fricking anti-depression meds or something, Champ.

Ok is so correct... the USA has grown so weak that somebody is gonna get offended by this post.
Snowflakes are running this county.
We finally get a President that put America first and people voted in a China loving socialist.
College students needs safe spaces..
Some kids don't even know how to change a tire, but they damned sure know how to get extra ammo on call of duty.

Half the country is overweight, probably 40% obese. We are doing so awesome.

I mentioned to him a while back that I really enjoyed and looked forward to his participation with Alaska related threads.
Whether or not he’s a liberal or conservative isn’t of interest to me as we all have different beliefs and opinions but the way he goes about talking to people on here that don’t have similar viewpoints as him is downright rude and kind of weird to be honest with you.

Oh bullshite. How many places have been ravaged by floods, fires, tornadoes, etc? But they’re still there chugging along.
people are easily shocked. Once the shock wears off, they rebuild and restart. Well most do, anyway.
The whole “everyone is a pussy” thing isn’t applicable to this situation. This is a freak weather event. The responses aren’t normal either.

And yet four years with power, including two with the senate, house, and White House, and no fricking infrastructure bill. Obama didn't get shite done, either, other than the Stimulus Omnibus that funded some "shovel ready" projects which really didn't amount to shite.
I don't care which party gets it done. Infrastructure is crumbling and there's absolutely no political will to get something done. They all talk about it, but never do shite.
The amount in taxes we pay, the wealth of this country, the size of GDP, there's absolute ZERO reason for us not to have the best infrastructure on Earth. China's infrastructural investments are putting ours to shame.

Yeah, China has entire cities virtually abandoned that will last 20 years, tops.
Constructed of cheap materials, central planning proven to be a failure.
You should look into Turkmenistan, possibly the best example of socialism in the world. You would love it here.
