I'd bet $100 you never move to the VIs but it makes the thread more interesting.

Why would I set my goal to something as low as a shithole fish camp in South LA? Especially if it's something that I'm sure you've done hundreds of times over the course of your life.

We go up there for vacation every year, right outside of Wilmington, called Topsail Island, NC ever since i was born. So for 21 yrs now.

We will make it a yearly summer trip. Grandfather showed us around and stayed in a great rental house on the island. Having access to a boat there is a must though.

Exactly

Why would I sell everything and move to hang out with a bunch of strangers?

Is it better to retire comfortably at 50.

Or work until 75, and retire more lavishly?

They are only strangers until you meet them. This raises another point, what is LA natives deal about branching out? LA natives rarely want to experience something outside of their comfort zone.

Same reason I want a place in the islands. Because that's where I want to spend a significant amount of my time. Thread isn't about what's right for everyone but what's right for you.

It may not be unique but it is much more prominent here than anywhere else I have been. Most people from LA only hangout with people from their hometown. There is hardly any diversity in the social circles

When I retire I want the beach and weed. That's what I need. Maybe Fla will be legalized by then.

Louisiana folks do travel, they just don't want to live anywhere else. They like being close to family and life here is just the tits
