Yep.
They had like a 100,000 sq mile search area for MH370 in some of the roughest seas in the world.
This is a much, much smaller search area in much lighter seas with far more resources (boats and countries) surrounding it.

It's financial terror first and loss of lives second. How much has been spent searching for the Malaysian plane? 100 million probably? What will the cost be of this more recent event? Same can be said about 9/11, it was more about waging a financial war with the West than it was about the loss of life, as horrid it was.

The oceans are massive so this doesn't really surprise me. I am sure there were thousands of ships in the Med when the plane crashed.
