When you were a student...

When grades started to kind of matter.... Did you ever take out the Calculator and think “well if I now have a C but if I get 100 on next 2 tests/quizzes whatever I can still get an A- “And then play with the numbers to decide all sorts of permutations. Instead of actually studying for the test that was coming up?

I went the other direction...
So I have a 92... I can get a 30 on the next three tests and still pass. Sounds good to me.

This.
It happened in high school English a lot. I was a A-B student with the exception of a math class here or there. In English, I loved to read. Unfortunately I’d rather read about sports than read Charles Dickins, Thoreau, or Homer.
I wouldn’t even buy the books. It’s hard to use CliffNotes on a short essay book test. I basically did my best to figure out how to get my B without buying or reading their shite.

I treated college like a 4.5 year party so my last semester I was in the unfortunate position of doing the calculations of "I need a 92 on this final to get X grade for the class to give me a cumulative of 2.5 so I can actually graduate".
fricking around sophomore and junior years and taking 0.0 (F) in Business Stats and Econometrics at a school that didn't allow replacement grades was a tough hole to dig out of.

Entered Uni with a 98.9 average.
failed for 2 very fun years - mid 50s or worse... then tried for 2 - 1/2 and squeezed by with a 73 average overall (school I went too didn’t do GPA)

I once paid an Asian kid I worked with at the dining hall to take on online math class for me si I'd actually graduate that semester.

When I was in pharmacy school I might have a 75 going into the final and I knew the final was 50 questions so I would calculate the exact number of questions I needed to finish with a D in the class
In pharmacy school grades don’t mean shite as long as you graduate
I’ve only had 1 job interview in my life and never did they ask about my grades or test scores

Meth ain’t all fun and games. I just finished installing an underground sprinkler system on my neighbors’ lawn. And they didn’t ask.

I took an accounting class at LSU in 1995. I scored a 92 on the first exam and an 82 on the second exam. The Final exam was 1/3 of the overall grade so I knew that unless I crushed the final , I was going to end up with a “B” grade for the course. I figured that I needed to score at least a 40 to pass the course and I needed a 96 to get an “A” .
Since there were no + or - with the grades eg A- or C + , for example, I was pretty much locked into earning a B ( which I did )
