There is nothing wrong with disciplining your children through spanking. I am successful, I have a great relationship with my parents, and I grew up in fear of a wooden spoon. I can honestly say that I deserved every spanking that I ever got. There are simply times when an 11-year-old boy cannot be reasoned with. Sometimes they do things just to see how far they can push their parents, and it's important to let them know who is in charge.

As odd as it may sound, spankings helped show me just how much my parents loved me. They clearly hated doing it. Yet, they still did it to prevent raising a shithead.

I've intervened in domestic violence before and it was never appreciated.

no, i mind my own business in respect that she is disciplining a child. which is rare today. also, i'm not a pussy who believes i can bribe a kid to behave as they should like you.

My personal guideline is with an open hand on a clothed/padded butt...anything beyond that I believe is physical abuse....my Dad stripped me down and lashed me with a belt...I choose not to do that to my kids.

My mother pulled over and got a piece of a blown-out truck tire and whipped me with it, way back when. Three kids in the back seat of a 1977 Thunderbird, the other two parted like the Red Sea.

That T-bird still had marks on the headliner when we sold it.

It's trashy for people to hit their kids. However, I generally look away during domestic violence. I've intervened before and it never ends well.

You can always snitch and call the cops I guess.

dragging the child

All depends on the situation.

I saw a young mother (25ish) carrying an infant and literally dragging her toddler behind her through Hobby airport.

The toddler had lost his mind when he couldn't have the balloons that were attached to a display. He was wearing one of those monkey backpacks that serves as a leash for parents. Anyway, he hit floor throwing a huge fit.

She tried to console him for a minute, very calmly, very sweet. Then, you could tell in her mind she just said frick it. It was about 150 yards where I lost site of her, still dragging him, all the while calmly mocking and talking shite to him, "you know this would be a lot easier if you would just walk with us...Guess I'm going to have to put you in a crib with your sister because you're obviously still a baby."

I know, CSB. But it was hilarious and she deserved a parent of the year award.
