My gut tells me that noon is safe but hoping for some feedback.

I'd say noon is safe because he's probably only on his 2nd martini and probably not too drunk and "get off my phone" mood yet.

I'd say noon is the safest bet. Can't really go wrong there.

If he's 80 probably do best to hand write him a letter with a return envelope for the reply...

Nope. Don't want to interrupt "Matlock" or "Murder She Wrote", depending on the market.

I talk to a 93 year old WW2 pilot that rescued my Dad after he was shot down.

I usually call between 9-930 a.m. his time.

For idle conversation about ailments, grandkids and "whippersnappers these days" or for, "You dont have to read the whole thing grandpa. Just sign here"?

I need to know what degree of lucidity you require from said geriatric.

My Aunt Juanita is 90 and rocks the tv at tarmac levels until late and wakes up early. Outside of Church-thirty she always wants to talk...after I get her to mute Family Feud and can hear wtf she's saying.

Old timers are almost always ready to talk, especially if they're alone.

I would say 12:30PM. Most old people eat earlier, but they also usually take a nap in the early afternoon 1PM, 2PM.. They like to watch the local news, which I think comes on at noon in most places, so 12:30PM is that time between the end of the news and nap time.
