It's a pain to count at the end of the night. Then split it between others they share tips with. If you tipped cash on top of it, he/she should have just been polite about it. With a thank you.

A dollar per drink has been standard for a while.

Why does the OT hate social norms so much?

Please don't start a thread about getting bad service from a service industry worker when you are tipping the change.

It's your choice to tip the change...but when you wait for everyone else to get your beer...its their choice to serve those who are going to tip more than the change.

Yeah, I never did that.

If it is too much of a pain to deal with, then round off the pricing and make it easier on the one tipping. It's not like I really wanted five dimes myself, but I didn't throw them away either. I took them back and gave him a buck, I just found the way that it was handled kind of shitty at best.

You tipped $0.50? That’s kind of pathetic.

Do you honestly think the bartender is the one setting the prices?

Would you like him to round up and make your beer more expensive because I seriously doubt the bar owner would like him rounding down.

I don't know, bro. If you think that's a good tip, chances are the bartender is doing better than you.

The menu said the beer was 4 bucks. I paid with a five. I'm thinking he was getting a buck, but he called me back for the "change". Also, said beer was in a can.

If the menu says it’s 4, then just pay with a 5 and tell him to keep it when you give it to him

Bartender was a douche for even offering. I would have pocketed the change without saying a word.

I used to do pretty well on coins back in the day. I had a huge bucket in my room and would toss all the change tips from bartending in there every night. I’d go to a coin star twice a year and usually came away with about $500.00.

Tip a buck a beer.

Like an adult.

If you tip more than a $1 for someone to pour you a beer you are a fricking idiot.

If you tip 50 cents or less, you are a cheap bastard and deserve any disrespect you get.

You are trashy if you hand a bartender 50 cents in dimes as a tip for a drink.
