We are that lazy in America where we can't even add the word 'away'. It's just too much work........

frick efficiency

I'm actually having difficulty finding anywhere that used the term "passed" in this case

Most are saying died with this quote in the article:

quote:

"It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning," Simon Halls, a spokesperson for Fisher's family, said in a statement to People.

Ah, so you're asking why Whoopie Goldberg used passed instead of passed away on twitter which has a character limit. Wouldn't call that a headline.

Also, you linked me to a Cameron LNG video .

They actually used to be a client of mine

Buy one presumption - get one free. You presume I follow Ms. Goldberg. That's incorrect. You also presume she consciously truncated the term to "passed" in order to come in under 140 characters. Unless you were on the phone with her as she was typing the tweet, it's speculation.

Whether it's headlines or body text, my point still stands - something that the un-picayunish would overlook. But hey - who doesn't like a good debate. The color of her shoes, perhaps?

Sorry about the link faux-pas.
