Look no further than the carb laden food pyramid pushed from the 50s to the 2000s to prop up the subsidized grain industry.

Travel to Europe and you'll quickly realize Americans consume too much sugar and too large portions sizes. Even European snacks and soda aren't half as bad as American snacks.

quote:
The food has changed so much that there's little nutritional value to it. I'm talking about a mainstream, standard American diet. We used to have nutrient rich foods full of fat that would satiate your body and thus, needing small portions to fill up. The standard american is now fat and poorly nourished.
Gonna need proof on the food changing
I get additives and processing , but that not calories nor portion size. We had McEDees and M&M back in the day like we do now. We had deserts back in the day like we do now.

Some truth to that.I never had trouble with my weight until I quit smoking Jan.1985.I stocked up on carrots, celery and apples to try and deal with the cravings.I still gained 20 lbs.first couple months.
Nevertheless l felt better packing the extra lbs.vs. smoking.

We need to make bullying fat people in the grocery store normal. Especially the ones in the motor scooters.
