When Obama was elected I remember everyone saying things like "I'm sure someone will kill him before his 4 years are up" but never straight up "I wish someone would kill him" like people do now with Trump.

Social media has allowed idiots to comment on things way above their capacities and to feel important and righteous in so doing.

Having Obama's presidency immediately followed by Trump's at least has the benefit of showing people that it's not restricted to any one particular side.

Let's add, after being busted, she tried to delete it quickly. She has such a big mouth, yet all bark and no bite.

Now @clairecmc joins the call for @MariaChappelleN to resign after publicly wishing @realDonaldTrump would be assassinated.

Claire is a Heavy Hitter in Missouri, and in DC.

His point is now that's perfectly acceptable Social Media posting. And he's right.

No it isn't. This is absurd. I guarantee the secret service investigates every single post they see and make visits if they deem it necessary.

Or the secret service.

But I think a state senator from Missouri did it recently. I doubt anything happens to her.

Of 45 presidents 4 have been assassinated. 13 others survived serious near-successful assassination attempts. 17 of 45 is a shade under 40%. These are just the significant attempts. Sadly it seems assassination has been a pretty common topic/idea throughout US history.

We are entering a new phase of crazy. I think social media makes it easier for extreme positions (like those of terrorists like Gavin Long or James T. Hodgkinson) to grow without being interrupted by rational vetting or outside criticism.

I think there are people that legitimately think that the president is a Nazi that was not legitimate elected. They may be crazy enough to do something, especially with our current media behavior.

The idiots were always there. They just have a platform now.

the true flaw with social media is that in the past you had to earn your way to have your voice heard

be it through education, career, or experience, the people who were speaking and being reported on were people that could be trusted (mostly) about the topics upon which they spoke

now you have uneducated jackasses spewing off some bs and their followers of other uneducated jackasses like the spew and share and share and share

then once you have 30,000 uneducated jackasses sharing the same drivel, it comes across as a large number, when really 30,000 people is such a minority in our country that it should be given no credence whatsoever

but the new world of social media teaches that the more shares or likes you have then the more right you are, no matter what your message

i guess what im trying to say, is i cant stand idiots on social media
