Have you ever even once heard your K-8th grade child or any other say "hey mom, can I have your Facebook account information so I can reminisce about that time I went to the first day of 3rd grade?"

When they are adults they will appreciate having such easy access to those photos and memories.

None of this is about the kid today. It's the image. It's an arms race. It's pretty annoying when you ponder this mindset on varied levels. JMO

Get the frick out. It's all about the kid. You're absolutely right that people who ponder this are annoying though.

The only "back to school" tradition we have is my wife puts both kids in nice first day of school outfits and takes their picture standing next to our front door. After that she drives them to school and drops them off in the car line. If I remember correctly when each of them started kindergarten I think it was customary to walk them to class for the first couple days to make sure they remembered where to go.

Being a parent is a hard damn job! While I see a lot of stuff other parents do that make me cringe as being against my parenting philosophy, as along as it is not physically or mentally abusing that child then it seems like it is their business and not mine.

No, I just didn't have to be a douche bag about something that has no effect on me.

Aww, someone sure is mad that they can't make an actual point and instead resorts to making terrible half-asseed attempts at insults.

Agreed...whole lotta competition trophies goin' round in this thread. Probably giving them out when they get home after their first day at school. Bet that gets old after sophomore year.

would love for anyone to show me parents doing a "professional" photo shoot for the first day of 7th grade

There are schools that I know of in Richardson where the PTA has hired professional photographers to take pics of the kids on the 1st day. All grades, not just Kindergarten.

My FB feed blew up last week with photos of kids(not just Kindergarteners) posing with handmade, elaborate signs stating 1st Day of 7th grade, 6th grade, etc.. Even saw an 11th grade one.

I'm just waiting for the new hires at my work to show up with mommy & daddy and their homemade signs stating "1st Day at 1st Job"

What kind of shitty parent thinks their kid is too good or too special to ride the bus, and block traffic for several blocks picking up their kids from school when a perfectly good school bus passes w/in a few feet from their house. This used to eat me up when I lived in Old Jefferson. There would be cars liked up all the way from Most Blessed Sacrament to Jefferson Highway to pick up kids who lived on a bus route.
