not just BR. Pharmacies don't make enough money off filling prescriptions to remain open 24 hours.

This. Plus the risk of having pain meds onsite and the risk of being robbed for them.

Kolby hit right on target.

Before that damn storm baton rouge wasn't too bad.

Then that storm came and a few days after the storm the swarm of locusts came in and you could not find a loaf of bread any where.

Now when there is even a threat of of a storm the walmarks and academy will put the plywood up and barricade with the entrance with chained up shopping carts.

Yes. There was a Food Town in the Southdowns Shopping Center when I was little. It’s where a health club (where the Kingfish once was) and The Bulldog are today.

How often does one need to go to a pharmacy at 1AM?

you have kids?

All grown and grandkids as well.

If there is something a child "needs" from a pharmacy at 1AM then you should probably just stay in the emergency room. That 1AM amoxicillin isn't going to fix it in an hour.

I guess my point was that the OP knew the hours and locations of multiple pharmacies pre and post covid...and his name doesn't imply small kids at home.

What does me knowing pre & post covid pharmacies have to do with it?

Less than two years ago, I had a fever, went to a walk in clinic, found out I had the flu. Got prescribed the medicine for the flu, if taken in the early stages, pretty much knocks out the symptoms. Only pharmacy that was open was Acadian & Government, I got there about midnight, got it filled. If it had been closed, I would have had to wait until the next day, pretty much making the medicine useless.

Last night, my daughter went to the ER when the walk-in clinic suggested her to go (the new hospital in Dutchtown, very nice place).

She gets three scripts, one was an antibiotic and one was a pain med. She was still in pain and the antibiotic and pain med would have given her a lot of relief. She had to suffer thru the night until today.

Baton Rouge is a shitshow for many reason...lack of 24 hour pharmacies is not one of them.

These no longer exist for one simple fact...money. No pharmacists is going to work without a tech and no company is going to pay 2 people, night shift pay, to fill 5-10 cheap prescriptions a night.

You would think a hospital would have this but even they don't always have a pharmacist in house after hours.

I have never had the need for a late night pharmacy.

Until you need one.

A good pain med to get you thru the night until the next day can mean a ton of relief.
