This has always been a hot topic philosophically. A lot of people imagine it as a higher power. Other people see it as nature impacting life. Does fate exist? Does it not?

I definitely believe in fate though I guess my feelings on it are a bit untraditional. In that everything is eventual even if the details are fuzzy for most of the human species.

quote:

Out of the night that covers me, Black as the pit from pole to pole, I thank whatever gods may be For my unconquerable soul. In the fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced nor cried aloud. Under the bludgeonings of chance My head is bloody, but unbowed. Beyond this place of wrath and tears Looms but the Horror of the shade, And yet the menace of the years Finds and shall find me unafraid. It matters not how strait the gate, How charged with punishments the scroll, I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul.

I don’t have marijuana. I have been to a virtual cocktail hour this evening with my family and I am drunk.

Matter and energy do what they gonna do, whether we understand it or not. With enough understanding you can predict anything. So yeah I believe I’m fate.

I believe in the multiverse which I feel is at odds with the idea of fate because there is a universe where every possible outcome exists. Somewhere in one of these you have Bezos money, are married to an OT 10.1, and have 4% body fat.

Don’t know shite about you as a person but I’ve exchanged a few comments here with you. You could be completely fricking around but I have a lot of military friends that took the above quoted route (not with a rope)

Dude, seriously. If you need to talk to someone I’ll exchange contact info with you.

Some people get dealt a genetically bad hand. Type 1 Diabetic, Autism, Familial Hypercholesterolemia, Cystic Fibrosis, etc. I guess you can call that fate or just bad luck.

The overwhelming majority of people die early from entirely preventable shite. Its not fate. It’s called not giving a frick about yourself. Alcoholism leading to Liver Failure, Smoking leading to Lung Cancer or COPD, not giving a shite about your body, leading to hypertension, Type 2 Diabetes, or High Cholesterol which eventually leads to a stroke or Heart Attack.

If you got dealt a good hand, fricking take care of yourself. You can have kids and find time to workout

As a christian and from a family of christians, this is the biggest argument i have when someone says "its all apart of god's plan". If there is such thing as fate and everything is all in God's plan, then it doesn't matter what any of us do. It's all predetermined. And if that is the case, then how can God justify sending someone to hell if that person's life and actions is apart of his plan?

No I don't believe in fate. I believe God puts things in our path but that it is up to us to act how we wish.
