What's wrong with my car's A/C?

Last week I had my condenser replaced because a rock put a nice size hole in it. Before then my A/C worked perfectly. Now it works when the outside temp is below 85 degrees but once it gets hot outside the compressor shuts off and it blows hot air. Is the system overcharged or is something else wrong?

Definitely sounds overcharged. I'd buy a cheap gauge and check that before anything else.

You should take it back to the "mechanic" that replaced the condenser and ask him.

sounds like proper vacuum wasn't pulled on the system after the condenser was replaced. Also, was the dryer changed out?

I did take it back Friday morning but the outside temp was cool and my A/C was working properly. We hooked it up to the gauges and everything read normal according to him.
Edit - yes the dryer was changed

Overcharged pro only. Make sure your condenser fans are working too. He may have forgot to plug them back in.

All fans appear to be working properly.

'12 Regal GS with 110K on the clock. When the A/C kicks off its in stop and go traffic. At highway speeds it will stay cool.

Heat transfer is at its highest demand at those speeds. Condensing units really need airflow over them to perform their best. I'm betting the new condenser might have a blockage in it.

What he said...
If lower ambient temperatures or highway speeds allow the AC to work OK, that's where I'd be ( I'd actually ask someone who is a real mechanic) looking.

I believe you.
It is a PITA not having AC, plus it is gonna be raining and 90 in Texas tomorrow.
Maybe a cheap rental?
