I don’t think he really cares all that much about the Louie and Roseanne stuff, but I do think he is genuinely guilt ridden about the Down syndrome comment. It’s not a very Norm thing to say.

Norm is a GOAT, of course. I think the interview touched on what got him in a mess, which is he doesn't gear his brain to developing sound bites about politics or current events. His brain is geared towards jokes, specifically the VERY VERY FUNNY KIND. And what gets lost in the haze of the current pc/sjw culture is that comedy = tragedy; unfunny things make the funniest jokes. Often times it takes Norm over the river and through the woods to make clear what he is saying when he's practiced it a hundred times, I'm not surprised at all that he a) didn't know how to express himself about Louis and Roseanne and b) probably got tripped up a little by the reporter(s) because it's not something he does a lot. Now, clearly we can all admit the down syndrome/retard one was indefensible, and I believe that he immediately regretted it.
Anyway, the main point of all of this is that the people who were excited about the continuation of his show (now, tell the people at home what his show is) are still excited, and the people who scream into the night sky about a 2 sentence blurb they read on twitter weren't going to watch anyway.

Sounds like he knows the audience.
