This looks awesome from a distance, but I bet the burqas ruin that beach.

You’ve probably never even set foot outside of this country. I’m way more cultured than you.

If you were in Alexandria this morning, you'd be able to get from one side of town to the other.

Yup.

You could go from one side of town with nothing to do to the other side of town, also with nothing to do.

ETA: I actually heard that a microbrewery is attempting to open there and kind of feel sorry for the owner to be honest. I don’t wish misfortune on anyone but fear they will meet the same fate that most local restaurant startups do in Alexandria - nobody will go.

The people with the money and interest get the hell out of town on weekends. The rest of the people don’t want to eat anywhere they can’t wear camo and throw peanuts on the ground or drink anywhere they can’t get a High Life for $2.50.

Name one that has shut down that was worth a shite.

Ill go first with ones that are locally owned and doing great.

Word of Mouth Cafe
Brocatos
Outlaws
Oriental Wok
Embers
Wildwood Pizza
Spirits
Caros
Diamond Grill
Lou and Lauras
Main Dish
Good Peoples Kitchen
Veronas
Bellinos
Atwoods
Swamp Daddys
Cottage Restaurant
Apollo
Chinese Kitchen
Tunks

Given the failure rates are so high nationwide, you should be able to list at least that many failed in Alexandria in just a few minutes.

I have a great friend that is selling out his new microbrew every day right in good ol Ellick.

Huckleberry will do just fine if he stays involved in the community. That is how the world works. You can open a business anywhere in the world and expect to sit behind your doors and people to hunt you down.

I was working on a pipeline project and our base of operations was Springfield, MO. That town must be the homeless capital of the United States as they are everywhere. Every main street intersection has 2 or 3 begging. You will see at least 20 people at all times around town walking around aimlessly. I felt really bad for them because it got nasty cold up there this past Winter.

They come in dining chains on the main roads to get out of the weather and beg for meals but the managers try to get them out quickly before patrons buy them food since that makes it impossible to get them to leave once they get a token soda or plate of fries. It is sad and like you said, the cops don't do much. They are after speeders and DWI's. Arresting bums doesn't bring money to the city.

It’s not sad for about 95% of them. In today’s world, you’re not homeless unless you’re a complete piece of human crap. They should be treated as a nuisance animal.

Can we start putting together Road Home money for them if this is the case?
