Why not both?
For real though we have one of each.

Why not get a minivan? Lots of interior space and less expensive than most SUV's

White Collar men in dress shirts with small balls.
See it all the time crossing the causeway. Guy driving a super duty F-250 in a button down shirt going to his office downtown. So incredibly pointless and inefficient. Why aren't you driving a commuter car? You just like pissing money away?
Unless you work in construction you probably have little to no use for a pickup truck. So many of those beds are spotless. You'd be better off with a reliable fuel-efficient vehicle that can tow a medium sized trailer for when you need to help your brother-in-law move or pick up that sattee that your wife saw at that funky little repurpose shop.

quote:You can find EVs in the same price range as crossovers. Especially once you factor in total cost of ownership and not just the price of the vehicle.
Well sure if EVs were cheaper
quote:Well the poster specifically talked about folks who did the bulk of their driving essentially around town. So more charging options are really not necessary in his example.
and more options to charge existed.

There is so much insecurity amongst men on this board and in the general public it's mind blowing.

The Subaru Ascent lives up to its 5000/500lb tow/tongue ratings
Load up the wife, two kids, dog, ice chest and suitcase and that thing will not be rated to tow 5,000 pounds nor will it be safe to throw another 500 pounds on the hitch. Those tow ratings are meaningless.
260 horsepower is not going to tow that 5,000 pounds up a hill at a comfortable pace.

Most fisherman don’t need a huge truck to pull their boats. My dad told me back in the day before Urban Cowboy, trucks were for country folk and people would simply pull their boats with their cars. Now, these weren’t huge boats and those cars probably had V8s and rear wheel drive, but this idea that a big pickup with a 10k lb towing capacity is required just to go fishing is overblown. Things are probably different for towing uphills but light towing in flat Louisiana doesn’t require a huge truck.
That said, I love my Tundra.
