I will never understand the appeal of casinos but hey it's your money.

Do you like to play golf or go bowling? both of those are "waste of money"

It can be just a way to kill time. It can be very fun and thrilling. Some people just like the rush

I hate losing money so i don't really enjoy it but i get it.

Probably 150-200 a few times. Last time was at red dress run when I stumbled into harrah's blackout. That's always nice to check your statement the next morning and see those withdrawals

gambling is fun. you can double your money very quickly.

No casino game is beatable. The odds of losing money are way larger than doubling your money.

I go to the casino 10-12 times per month. It's like managing a mutual fund or 401K. You have to know your goal and when to walk away. It's really not that fun. I treat it more like a job and don't get caught up in the temptations.

Jobs don't have -EV. All casino table games and slots have -EV.

I'm not exactly sure how what I do at casinos is any different than what others do in the stock market or retirement funds so explain to me why I'm such a huge piece of scum???

This is exactly how casino gambling should be viewed... entertainment. The first commandment of gambling is Thou Shalt Expect to Lose. Casinos don't have games that are beatable, if they did, they would go bankrupt. Make your bankroll an amount you are comfortable losing and see how things go. But I can't stand morons who say they have a way to beat a casino game. When I lived in Las Vegas these idiots were dime a dozen. Always saying they have some foolproof method to beat a table game of some sorts.

There is a UNLV Math Professor who says he will pay $20,000 to anyone who can give him a gambling system that will beat the house over the long run. This challenge has been outstanding for 15 years now and no one has been able to win the $20,000.

Probably $400... In 2003 I was in Vegas for work. My boss and I kept betting college games at the sports book. I made big in LSU vs ULM and a few other games. I was up over $400. On our last night we put all our winnings on the TCU-5 vs Tulane. TCU was up by 15 in the 4th quarter and held on to win by 3. I was pissed. They gave it up in the last 2 minutes.

He runs this site, here is the link to the challenge: LINK

Apparently he took it down in 2005 because he didn't get any serious challengers. But his site is great for learning about odds of casino games and understanding how every game is designed to frick you in the long run. The only games you should ever play in a casino are blackjack and craps as those games have the smallest house edge.
