Spray water on it to see if you get air bubbles.. Make sure it's not losing air.. If not you can go a little while with the nail in it, but it's best to get taken care of sooner rather than later.. Just to be on the safe side.

A few months. Didn't know there was a nail in it. It was just a very slow leak.

I have one in my tire that's been there since around late '13 early '14. Every time I go to get my truck inspected they point it out but agree that it's best to just leave it in there. The tire has never leaked air.

I ran over something one time, and the guy at the tire store said it was too big to patch. I didn't have the money for a new tire, so I had a friend put some glue, the kind that comes with tire plugs, in it then stick a roofing nail in the hole. Drove with it like that for several months until I sold the car, it never leaked.

4 Months.....I had one once that set off my TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) light about every 2 weeks. At the time it was just crazy busy and I was dumb and procrastinated so I just aired it up every couple of weeks. The leak wasn't that bad though, because the pressure would drop from 35 down to like 26 or 27 every couple of weeks....

They were Michelins about to be replaced any way, so after the 4 months I bought a new set of 4.....

That being said, I wouldn't recommend nor do it again..it was always nagging in the back of my mind...

A tire plug kit is less than $5 and it's done. Fixaflat is like $10 a can.

500 miles and 11 days.

Thought the light turnong on was due to weather (was like 40s), pumped my gas that morning. Drove it a week, pumped my gas, drove another few days, temp jumped back up to 60-70s, but light stayed on.

Decided to check every tire. 32-33-32-26.

Screw in tire in a weird way, changed it out.

If it's not in the sidewall you know you can fix it yourself for less than $10 right? But I wouldn't want you to hurt your dainty little hands so better take it to a tire place.

Hell, last time I got new tires... I checked the old ones and must have had a dozen nails and screws and other crap stuck in there that you couldn't see. Never had much of a leaking problem.

BTW... On my other vehicle, I have a screw with a broken head I can't get out that slowly leaks. Too busy to bring it in so I just air it up every few days.

Have had a screw in a tire on my Jeep, it has to have been there 3+ years, guess the tread is thicker than the screw is long.
