Yes, this is a serious question.

Gonna be in the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City area this weekend and am wondering if I should rent a car to drive to Des Moines to see a friend.

Boring and flat. 2 hour drive. It's easy to do.

What's the terrain like? Does it have expansive views of flat terrain or am I imagining Kansas?

I'm interested in seeing some of that flat, tornado-inducing, Wizard of Oz type scenery (yes I know Oz took place in Kansas).

Went through there once. I thought the Rocky Mountains would've been a lot rockier.

Funny you should ask, I just did the drive this past Saturday and last night. Drove from CR to Des Moines airport last Saturday to fly to DFW, and finally got to fly from Atlanta to Des Moines last night and drove back home to Cedar Rapids.

It's a boring as shite drive. Takes about 1.75-2 hours to do. Just a long highway(highway 80) that goes through farmland. Nothing interesting along the way.

should be able to do in around 1:30-1:40. You can move on pretty good on i-80.

Not a terrible drive. Small rolling hills pretty much the entire way.

It sucks, there is nothing to do here

I have been here for about 15 months now and just got done with a 3rd interview in another state for a job promotion to a bigger market. Hoping I get the job so I can finally get out of here.
