I went there to visit a friend when I was at LSU, beautiful place, and an incredible hole to pole ratio at the time

The combined campuses of Pitt and Carnegie-Mellon have some beautiful buildings.
I'm dying to see the Cathedral (of course) of Learning one day.
Just got back from visiting Upitt and Virginia Tech. The cathedral of learning at Pitt was very nice along with their nationality rooms. Was very surprised how much I liked Pitt.
Virginia Tech was very nice as well. Totally different, very rural area but I could see where it would be a great place to spend 4 years of college. The area around it is beautiful even though Blacksburg doesn't have much to offer.
My son is looking at schools for next year and we have toured about 30 colleges in the past 12 months. Some smaller for athletic opportunities. Some that stood out to me have been
Very Nice
Duke - beautiful
North Carolina
Pitt
Virginia Tech
LSU
Georgia Tech
UGA
UPenn
Rice
UCLA
Pretty Good
South Carolina - interior of campus is nice
Texas - cool city, less cool people
Oglethorpe - small college but interesting architecture
texas state - pretty
TCU
bama
Tennessee
decent
NC State
atm
SMU
Baylor
Auburn
less impressed
West Virginia

I have been to Notre Dame. I will go with that one. An iconic stadium, Touchdown Jesus, First Down Moses, and a church reminiscent of a European cathedral.
UCLA is pretty too.

Princeton, Harvard and Yale were all really cool to visit, just considering the history of the campuses.
Stanford is really nice and immaculate.
UCLA was really cool. Can't beat the location.
UC Santa Barbara has some stunning views.
Univ of Washington has a really beautiful campus too.

Pitt is fine until you have to drive down Forbes Avenue regularly. There isn't enough room over there for a hospital that large

Fortunate to have visited quite a few.
Honestly, most of the best ones reside in California.
In no particular order, the best I've visited are:
- UCLA
- Pepperdine
- Harvard
- Stanford (really do love Palo Alto, as well)
- UC Santa Barbara
- U of Washington
The problem with the SEC is, virtually every school is either in a cool town, or has a nice campus. There isn't a single one that has both. Some have neither.
For example:
Nice Campus, Town Sucks:
- LSU
- Alabama
- Ole Miss (It's a nice town, but it's very limited in options after a while)
Nice town, campus sucks
- UGA (Biggest disparity, those 70s buildings are disgusting but town is great)
- Kentucky
- Tennessee
- Arkansas
- Auburn
- Vandy
You only like it because you went there:
- Mizzou
- S. Carolina
- Florida
- Miss State
- Texas A&M

I thought the same thing. I like Athens and the way people talk about UGA, I expected something very close to UA. That campus is a nightmare. Buildings are ugly (way more than half of them) and the layout is atrocious. Same story with Kentucky and Tennessee. I do like Auburn okay, it's just a different style than UA/Ole Miss/UVA
