What's the closest you've come to passing/failing?

Semi-relevant, I just got a 79.92 for a course (which is a B, as a 79.5 rounds up according to the syllabus) that I was absolutely certain I failed after I took the test. The test was in two parts and was 90% of the grade.

What's your closest call one way or the other?

72.8

The jerkoff professor wouldn't round up from a C- to C.

Had to retake it

Missed a final, thought I would get a zero and fail. Professor let me take it the next day.

Failed Organic Chemistry I the first time with a 53. Crazy thing is with the F I still had a 3.1. Had an A in every other class.
Retook with a different professor, made an A and went on to Dominate O Chem II

ETA: Miss interpreted the question

A D is failing at my school, and a C is conditional and does not guarantee a passing grade.

I swear I failed a final in grad school. Professor gave me a D though so I had like a 80 B- in the class. If i had made a C+ i wouldve been on probation.

I was dealing with girlfriend drama and was sick and in the middle of the final just stopped caring

Finished Art History with a 90.1 in college.

Would've considered any B a personal failure, much less a B in friggin art history.

Spanish 2101 summer class at LSU I got a 68.9 which normally would be a "D". However everyone did so bad in the class they changed the grading from 90/80/70/60 to 88/78/68 so I snuck by with a "C".

I had a 3.9 in undergrad at LSU and a 4.0 in grad school. I had 3 B's in all of college.

But one of those B's is my proudest grade. It was a geology 1001 class for non-geology majors. The teacher said he was going to teach it like an honors class. The PowerPoint slides had many blanks because you were supposed to go to class to fill in the blanks. I only showed up for the tests.

I think I had a failing grade going into the final because I basically just studied the half notes I had. So for the final, I read the entire text book, cover to cover. I don't know what I got on the final but I ended up with a B in the class. I assume there was a strong curve, but I am still proud of pulling out a B in the end. Most other classes were so easy I could just show up for the tests and still get an A.

ETA: I want to say the teacher's name was Dr. Roche. Does that ring a bell to anyone? This was over 10 years ago.

2nd ETA: My only take-away from the class was the teacher said on like the first day that the world was going to run out of oil within 10 years. Just a tad off on that one.

I am always amazed how the teachers/professors are considered assholes for not rounding a grade up when the requirements for grades are clearly stated at the beginning of the course. You want an A you better get the grade, not slightly below that. There has to be a cut-off somewhere.

Nice. Did he tell your class the same thing about oil?

Because I skipped so many classes and just showed up for tests, I often dream of the semester coming to an end and I haven't been to a single class or taken a single test and am about to fail.

Made a 79.99 exactly in one class. Luckily the teacher wasn't evil and rounded up.

Oftentimes theres a cuttoff for rounding up.

And some grading systems suck, like the old-school A,B,C,D,F system where you get 4.0 credit for anything >90, 3.0 for any B and so on. It really sucks to get stuck with an 89.9 and get the same credit as the guy who got a 80 and less than the guy who got a 90.

I don't recall that.

All he said the first day was not to bring creationism into class and that the priests at Notre Dame taught regular geology so be quiet. Of course, some female nut in the class couldn't stay quiet for 5 seconds after that.

Second thing is he threw chocolate bars at the class all the time. They actually kind of hurt.
