Have any of you used Carvana to buy a car? What are the pros and cons?

You typically pay more but you don’t have to negotiate. Also, once the sale is done good luck getting any assistance from them.

Pretty sure they are near bankruptcy.

Higher interest rates than dealer if you’re financing. You can bring your own financing but I think they then make the process more convoluted

I’ll take the extra cost to finance if it means not having to talk to a car salesman.

Couldn't I just pay more and not negotiate at the dealership? Paying more not to negotiate doesn't seem like a "pro" to me.

How do you deal with the warranty stuff with them? Last time I bought a car, I felt like the numbers were OK -- then, when the dealer started adding all of the warranties/coverages as we sat down to finalize everything, I felt like it got out of hand.

This doesn’t need to be hard at all

I don’t consider paying more a “pro” at all. If I can save $800-$1000 by spending half a day at a dealer I’ll do it.

Dealers don’t get any better rates. They usually just make it up on fees.

You’re paying for it one way or another.

I thought they were and then had a massive turnaround to profitability.

No catch at all

It's very transparent and lets you control the process and make a clear decision based on real info that you either like or don't like

It's such an amazing concept

We bought a car from a Carvana in Louisiana. We owned our trade-in and were paying cash for the difference of the car we were buying.

Carvana must have had issues in the past with Louisiana with having 2 names on a title for a trade in. They could only take a trade-in with 1 name on the title, but they said we could sell it to them with 2 names. That didn't make any sense to me, but to save on the sales tax, I had to go to our 3rd party DMV to remove one of the names. After that, it was easy.

Id rather go to a real DMV, every day for 4 hours a day for a week than walk into a car dealership for 5 minutes and speak to a salesman or sales mgr

There are people that will negotiate for you.

Check out Costco’s program. They’ll take care of everything for you.

Tell them I am not interested in additional warranties and will accept the standard manufacturer/dealership warranties that come with the agreed to purchase price.

Not Carvana, but I’ve sold to one of these similar, no hassle, fronts and felt like I got a really good deal. More of a private party value vs trade in. Very easy as well.
