quote:
Rottweiler and a shotgun
Pretty much..
There used to be a family who lived in my neighborhood who had a Rottweiler. When he barked he sounded like a damn lion.
I was talking to the wife one day and
She told me that he is protective, but once he senses someone isn't a threat he is just a big ole baby. She brought him out to the front yard and sure enough, I pet him and he didn't want me to stop. I stopped for a second and he came and licked me like he was trying to get my attention to keep on.
But when he was in the backyard and people would walk by on the sidewalk, he could see people before they could see him. There would be people from other neighborhoods who walk for exercise.. Or kids who come play with other kids and I see people take off running because they didn't expect it and the dog would all of a sudden bark. It would scare the piss out of people if they didn't know he was there.
I guarantee you. If someone came on your property and a motion light came on then all of a sudden a Rottweiler started barking they are not hanging around.

Work from home.
Get a dog.
Live in a neighborhood where thugs and trash don’t walk through.
Get your own video monitoring system if you want an alarm. Your not going to stop someone who wants to break in. Best you can do is deter them first, then catch them with the cameras.

Not sure what location you are in, but for the past six years I've been using 24/7 Security Technologies out of BTR. $20 a month...EXCELLENT customer service....absolutely no complaints

Guineas and get 2 for 1
Who Needs ADT When You Have Guineas?
This is a great benefit of owning guineas.
I was not prepared for how great of watchdogs these birds were going to be for our homestead. They will guard your animals and property against both predators and people that should not be around.
You Don’t Need The Orkin Man—You Need Guineas
Since we have had guineas, we don’t have bugs. Bugs don’t stand a chance.
This is another huge benefit to owning guineas.
