re: What's the average age on an OT poster? A lot of old farts around these parts.

Sorry for your loss.

I actually love the old bull/young bull mentality here. Everybody gets something from being here.

It has been 2 and a half years now. I find joy in reading the tales told here. My son loved lsu and loved life. Same as most of you.

64.

I have been on this site since March of 2006 when Iona was matched with LSU in the first round of the NCAAs. I was warned by milehigh and rmcc316 not to come over to the O-T. Being one who does not take direction well, I clicked on the O-T I laughed out loud at some of the stuff I read. Now, almost 10 years later, I'm like a crack addict and have to read the site everyday. I still get a laugh out of this place. Laughter is good for the soul.

I am 59 now. To be honest, I was a member of a pay site for years. When I lost my son a couple of years ago, I found this board. Most of you are my son's age. I get a chuckle out of many of the posts. I laugh, and can imagine him posting that stuff. It has been good for me.

So very sorry about your son, and although I can't imagine how you feel regarding his loss, I can totally understand how reading some of this stuff by people close to his age would be comforting to you. On a much less serious level, my reason for reading this board is a bit similar. I began reading the sports stuff on the SEC Rant & Arky Board, then the Food Board, which has a few really good posters with great recipes & ideas (Gris Gris), but I discovered that when I'm super stressed, have had a really crappy day, or, occasionally, believe it or not, looking for helpful info & opinions about certain topics, the OT (when it's not just completely ruthless ) is a good way to zone out for a while & get some good laughs - the Poli Board, too, as long as you take it with a grain of salt & just laugh at the idiocy.

Just because some of us are more experienced, we shouldn't enjoy childish humor? Almost every day, I find a post or two that makes me laugh. I think that alone is worth the time I spend on this site.

The thread about shaving nut sacks was the funniest shite I have ever read. It was TD gold.

Enjoy your teens and 20's. Contrary to what most will tell you...do stupid shite. Make memories, good and bad. You will miss that time of your life.

Good advice here.

I think the funniest thread I remember was the one about getting Mike the tiger laid. I don't remember if it was on the OT or the Rant, but it was gold.

I hear ya, KJI. I'm getting a bit tired of being pretty much the oldest guy in the courtroom (including the judge).

My step father used to say. Inside of every old guy is a 12 year old, trying desperately to escape.

You job is to set him free.
