I have an uncle that recently had a massive stroke and can't work anymore. He's single and in his late 50's. I'm trying to help him get on disability and file for bankruptcy. Anyone know what the typical legal fees are for filing for bankruptcy?

Wouldn't it be better to declare them at least a partial interdict and take control of their finances?

Plus, due to his stroke, he should be eligible for SS disability, wouldn't you think?

Wait until he gets his first disability check. That could take a year. He might need to run up more debt.

Why do you think he needs to declare bankruptcy? Does he have a mortgage?

It’s free, of course. Can’t expect a bankrupt person to be able to pay for anything.

No idea what that means but he still has his mind. He's actually stocking shelves overnight at Walmart right now even though he still drags one leg. He just can't do the plumbing work anymore and probably shouldn't be working at all.

How long has he been doing that? Is he able to perform the work?

About a month now. / Not really, he's had to leave in the middle of his shift a couple times. He's really lost all hope at this point. The process for filing for disability is insane too.
