Crud, I remember that smoke now. Maybe that’s why I was under the table. It just hung there at eye level

There use to be one near the overpass south of the drive in movie place. It was to the left of what use to be a pizza place. Had a pistol pointed at me there over a pool game. I almost fainted. Pulled a dollar out of my pocket and put it on table and permanently left.

No I just beat him 5 times straight. He said he wasn’t going to play me any more. I whined enough to make him play me again. Beat him. He was a psycho and I knew it. I grew up a lot that evening.

Was at one last night here in Virginia...first time I heard this band but they had some unusual John Cash, Waylon, George Jones in their sets. Did they play some Luke Combs? Yeah, it was ok. Had a good fiddle player. Place was packed...much younger crowd than my wife and it.

Oh and I found a honky tonk or two in San Fran last year when I was out there. Just don't go later on Fri / Sat when all the hipsters show up and ruin them.

Probably the same thing that happened to Nashville. Fake country pop and rap singers have invaded and turned it to total shite.

Just in the DFW area there’s:

Cowboys Red River (our go-to)
Guitars and Cadillacs
Electric Cowboy
Rhinestone
PBR
Mama Tried
Round Up
Hooky
Basically all of the Stockyards

They’re everywhere here and usually a great crowd wherever you go.

That sounds right! I didn’t go there enough to know if that guy was the owner, could have been.

Robert E Lee’s in Hammond was a happening place until the late 1990’s. The kind of place where they sweeped the eyeballs up after closing.

me either, Pizza Inn was the joint next door, not bad pizza, kind of a hangout for awhile, while I was at LSU there was an incident at the Zodiac, can't remember if it was a shooting or not, but the cops came and arrested the perp , he's cuffed in the back seat of the car and somehow manages to get out of the cuffs and take the cop's gun and kill him, big news at the time, close to home
