Great thing about the 70s in S'port area, the Italian liquor/Convenience stores would sell booze to minors at a slightly inflated price.
Bottle Stop and Andrew's Grocery on St Vincent we're my go to places starting at 15 and then there was always the drive up in the back of The Cub. We seriously believed Jake and TJ thought we were of age.

I grew up near the strip in the 70s. That place was crazy.
quote:
The Strip has been the home of bars and brothels almost since the incorporation of the city in 1907. From about 1930 through the late 1940s the Bossier Strip was as popular an entertainment destination as Las Vegas, having been around for many years prior to the establishment of Las Vegas as a gambling mecca.[4]
The Strip has been the object of political disputes too. In 1972, then Mayor George Nattin fired Police Chief Bobby Joe Almond over what Almond claimed was a dispute over enforcement of after-hours policies for nightclubs on The Strip.[5]
The Bossier Strip is also located in what musicians once called the Magic Circle,[6] an area described by Tillman Franks as an area 50-miles in radius from downtown Shreveport from which many kinds of music evolved. This area has produced an inordinate number of musical performers that have attained high acclaim for their music
I remember reading that Bossier/Shreveport almost became Nashville.
I was at Barksdale in 91 and loved the area. Them country gal weren't shy about sharing that poontang. Came very close to staying.

I met and fricked in a Dallas honky tonk (80s) the hottest girl with cowboy boots and painted on jeans. Man she rocked my world. Still think of that girl today.

Our band plays a little bit of country (Chris Stapleton, Martina McBride, crap like that) and the rest pop and rock. Honky tonks are the absolute funnest places to play. I’ve seen some stuff.

You missed Rabb's steakhouse in Ruston. They used to book live venues in sn outdoor area. I saw Gary Allen there. Not sure why that place closed, it was always filled with people. I do remember the Honky Tonk in Monroe as well.

Increased DUI enforcement and stiffer penalties
make it to risky to patronize such establishment.
Leo's can just set up road blocks, traffic stops a mile down the road from said establishments and fill the jail every nite which generates big $ in fines for local govt.

“Country music sucks now” that’s such a lazy take that people love to cling to. Like dude sorry you’re too incompetent to find the good music instead of turning on mainstream radio.
There’s plenty of quality country music being released now. People are dumbasses
