You don't HAVE to do anything…except feed him, clothe him, shelter him, and love him. I, and MANY others, got jobs at that age to buy a car AND to pay for my own insurance as primary driver. It took awhile, but that POS was all mine. In the mean time, I had many friends I could carpool with to school/work. He does have those, right?

He could get a part-time job. I got one when I turned 16...still played sports and graduated with a high GPA. Before I had a "real job" - I made shirts for football games... screen printing... in my garage.
