He'll be lucky to get 10-12K for it if it is even authentic.

Here is a fantastic and quite entertaining thread that doesn't quite go the way the guy who owns the card hoped....

Blowout Cards 1of1 Babe Ruth/ Ty Cobb

That’s great. They even had the values for full pieces from original auctions before they were cut up.

I see a lot of baseball card insurance claims and always the bringer of the bad news on value. About two years ago I did an extensive collection out of Florida. Guy had it appraised for 700k. We used actual auction prices and what people were getting total value was around 25k when all said and done.

Pretty much most modern cards aren’t worth much except these cut up cards but still not nearly as much as original piece before the butchering. Even the older cards from 60s you pretty much need a rookie card and grading to be worth a few bucks.

Lol yes sold listings. I can buy mj game worn shoes for less than 6 figures. His iconic game shoes sell for 100-200k, so I find it hard to believe a card with something from Zion is anything close

They don't still have them up but when Zion Contenders cards with autograph variations hit, they topped six figures as in auctioned prices hit that.

You have no idea about the hobby bro...you need to re-evaluate your level of knowledge before making an ignorant comment.

Hobby is definitely not for kids anymore, unfortunately.

That your boyfriend's pic?

I'm not judging you but I'll stick with baseball cards, not the bat and ball action you seem to have going on...

Wow, no words for this...you know you could take a moment and look at Ebay or educate yourself on a basic level before unloading mis-information.

I could. But it would be dumb. Just one of the thousands of cards I had was an elite Barry Bonds, taken out of the pack and placed in an acrylic holder. It was perfect. Beckett said is was worth like 150 bucks at the time, right now, you can buy it for 15 bucks all over the place. That means the seller has about 5 bucks in it.

Your hobby is fine. I can find a WHOLE lot of overpriced pie in the sky shite on Ebay, that is your source. Of course I can find a buy it now rookie card for 500 bucks, looking for a fool to steal their money.

Sports cards market is weird. I always figured it was propped up as a convenient way to launder money

My son just turned 10. A couple neighborhood kids started collecting so now he does too. In true 2020 fashion my wife spends $50 on cases and binders to hold his cards.

Right I understand but as Beckett says, it is simply a guide. The market has a lot of nuance to it as well...there's probably a reason it snagged the $15 and not really that much to do with what Beckett says. eBay is a lot better realized pricing method to me anyway.

Do you know exactly what card the Bonds was? The $150 listing also might have been for a rarer parallel variation...if you could locate a pic of the card, that would help assess why you got what you got for it. One hint, Barry Bonds is not a home run hitter so to say in the hobby with the issues he had.
